| La Conca de Barberà comprises the high part of the Francolí basin, its affluent, the Anguera and the land in the high areas of the Corb and Gaià basins. Surrounded by mountains, it borders on the south with the pre-coastal hills, to the north with the Tallat and Suró mountain ranges, to the east with the Brufaganya mountains and to the west with the Prades mountains and the Llena hills. With a medium mountain Meditteranean climate with continental trends, the district registers the greatest rainfall in the central mountain areas, especially in the autumn. Summers are hot and winters are cold, and there is not much rainfall in either of these seasons. The local vegetation consist of hol oaks in the inland areas and kermes oaks in the higher sectors where the climate is more continental, whereas cork oaks dominate the mountains. Crops and thicket and pine groves currently dominate the landscape, and kermes oaks and oak trees are only found in areas which are difficult to farm. The district's economy has traditionally been based on farming, especially dry crops such as cereals, vines, hazelnuts adnalmonds, whereas the small amount of irrigated land grows vegetables. Livestock is limited to poultry and pigs. There is a limited amount of industry, and it is largely based on food products, textiles, paper and construction. The A-2 motorway mitigated the district's traditional isolation, providing faster and more direct communications with the rest of Catalonia and attracting new industries to the area.
